What Is The Top Web Hosting Service? Does It Matter?

So, you want to start a website or blog? Good choice, an online business can really bring a ton of extra cash in… Even a full time income if approached correctly!

There's quite a few things that come into play when starting your online business however…. What is the top web hosting service? How much will it cost to start? How will I learn to build a successful business online?

Where do I even start…on and on….. and on it goes.

“Can I even make money online?”

Yes you can….without a doubt.

Here Are Some Things You Will Need To Learn About…

  • Web hosting
  • Domain name
  • Learning a CMS
  • Pointing DNS servers
  • Learning marketing
  • Copy writing … On and On!

As you can see there is a ton to learn when you start to lift the hood of the online business game. Two things I want to be VERY CLEAR ABOUT, from the start, before we go any further.

Number 1…. You can absolutely learn… And do this online thing right ! Make no mistake, you can do this. You just need to hunker down and tackle it.

When I started out I knew next to nothing about computers, let alone ANYTHING about making money online. With time and persistence however, you do start to realize the potential in front of you.

At A Certain Point It Hits…

At this point you've put a ton of work in… Hours upon hours of trail and error…

This work you put in… Hours of figuring it out and problem solving all on your own…. It's worth some serious mojo to you after a while…. You become proud of the sheer determination and work you put into this thing.

Don't Lose It All Because You  Went With A Bad Web host!

It does not matter if you are just starting your online side hustle. Or you are a seasoned blogger, you need to have good quality web hosting! DO NOT lose hours and hours of hard work because you ended up picking a cheap web host. Not only does your content sit on shabby ground, you're overall website speed and rankings suffer due to poor speed and reliability.

What Is The Top Web Hosting Service?

This article is a review of what I believe is one of the best web hosts available… Siteground

Siteground is well-known for their quality and customer service when it comes to the world of web hosting. I myself use Siteground for many of my websites. Their service has always exceeded my expectations…. Time and time again.

OK… So I like Siteground…. How's That Helping YOU

It's not…. What's helping you is this review… An honest look at Siteground web hosting that can help you decide if their service is right for you.

Before we jump in, Let's go over one thing really quick….

A Quick Rundown Of What Web Hosting Is Exactly…

What is web hosting? Why does quality matter?

In a very condensed version, web hosting is simply a service that stores files… Your files, these files make up your website.

In order to start a website online, you need to use a CMS, or “content management system” such as wordpress to create your website, your web host's job is to safely store these files.

When someone looks up your website, the domain name server settings tell the search engine where to find the files….hense, Your website.

As You Can Probably Tell… It's pretty Important To Have Your Files In Good Safe Place.

A Look At Siteground…

Signing Up…

Signing up for SG is fairly straight forward, there are a few different options to choose from…

Shared hosting : Shared hosting is when your files share space on a server with other websites. This is a very common starting ground and is sufficient for most websites.

Cloud hosting : Cloud hosting is a step up from shared hosting. Cloud hosting is quicker and more secure as the resources are pulled from “the cloud” Information and data spread across multiple resources, rather than one stationary piece of hardware.

Here are the plans available for shared WordPress hosting…

  1. The Start up plan…
  2. The Grow big plan…
  3. The Go geek plan….

Your Siteground Dashboard… It's Refreshing to say the least.

The user experience is fantastic, anyone that has used “c-Panel” and has not tried Siteground is missing out. The platform is inviting and easy to navigate.

Much of the technical C-panel stuff is greatly simplified with the SG platform. Everything is laid out well so you can focus on building your website and not all the technical stuff.

How To Get Started…

You can start a whole new website or transfer an existing project over in a matter of minutes…. Keep in mind as we go forward, I have a THE GROW BIG membership.

When you get to your main dashboard you simply click on the websites tab…

Once you click there you will see the screen that shows all of your existing websites, (If you have any) There will also be a “start new website” tab. Clicking here will bring you a few options….

New domain : Choose this if you want to find a new domain for a fresh website and purchase a domain at Siteground.

One note… I do not recommend buying the domain at Siteground due to the fact they are more expensive. I use Namecheap for all of my domains for more than a few reasons.

I'll be covering namecheap in a full review in the future so stay tuned, in the meantime Luminous Outlook readers can save 21% on domains for a limited time right now with the following link !

Existing domain : Chose this if you already have a domain and you want to point it to Siteground. After you set this up you can migrate a project over using a very handy plugin found here. I have personally used this a few times and I have never had an issue with any of the transfers.

Take note however: If the domain is registered outside of Siteground, you will need to point the DNS servers!

Temporary domain : Chose this if you are just getting started and want to start working on a website with a temporary domain that Site ground picks for you. You can play around and build a site, if you like it you can change the domain to your permanent choice.

Very cool for just getting the feel of website building, I have built a few “dummy” practice sites here and then deleted when I learned what I wanted to learn from them.

Migrate Or Start Fresh?…

Once you choose your domain setup it's time to either install a fresh WordPress website or migrate an existing project into the SG platform. One thing that you will notice is how your site will always have the latest PHP version and will be overall faster after using SG if you have a different host right now.

If you want to migrate your existing site you simply choose the “migrate existing project” window, seen below…

At this point you can use the SG migrator plugin to transfer your website to the SG servers. I have used this and it seems to work very well. It's easy, Shoot me an email at jerryluminous@extrahundreds.com if you get stuck in any of this. I'll be more than happy to help!

The other option is to have the team at Siteground perform the migration manually for you. The only drawback of this is the cost. It runs $30 bucks and up! In my humble opinion this is too much for a migration.

One last route can be to create an empty site. Again this can be for various reasons.

Way To Go!… You are now hosting your website on one of the best hosts available!

The Technical Side Of Siteground Makes It Awesome!

First off the security is bar none with SG. They perform daily backups of your website so you can recover if something goes wrong. You also have the choice of taking up to 5 manual backups of your complete site in a click.

This just saved my bacon a few weeks ago. I had a site that I had hired some people to help me work on SEO for. Long story short someone changed the URL to the website! I wasen't even able to log into my wordpress dashboard!

After a brief panic I contacted support and they helped me recover the site, they even told me where the change was made and how to fix it!

If I had “cheap” hosting I would be out of luck.~  Listen if you are going to put the time into building a quality website, you need to put that work somewhere safe!  WORD TO THE WISE.

Again….YOU NEED TO PUT IT IN A SAFE PLACE!

Simple as that my friend, it's simply not worth it. Skimp elsewhere if you must, just not here.

Choose Your Server… A Big Advantage

SIteground lets you do something rather cool…. You can choose which server you want from several around the world. This means that depending on where you are based, or where your traffic comes from, you can grab a server closest to the action.

Here's a picture showing the available locations, the orange arrows are SG server locations.

Take A Test Run….

Woulden't it be nice, (especially when you are learning wordpress) to just be able to mess around on your site and experiment without the fear of throwing a live grenade into the whole thing?

Now you can, with a simple click you can create an exact replica of your website that is completely separate from the live site. This means you can change designs, plugins, articles…. Anything you want without messing up the live site.

If you do make the site better you can push the duplicate live in seconds! It really allows you freedom to get in there and mess around.

If you hit the wrong button there's no worries. Worth every penny if you ask me.

Chock Full Of Useful Features….

There's several features that SG offers…

  • Website builder
  • Premium support
  • Unlimited e-mail accounts
  • State-of-the-art security
  • Site scanner (available for purchase)
  • SG Optimizer
  • SG security

So Many features…. Who Cares, How Does My Site Run?

After all the technical rundown you may be asking…” How does it work in the real world?”

In one word… “GOOD” I can honestly say that when I moved my websites to Siteground my loading speed shot up, my rankings also began to grow.

One thing you need to remember is that Google and other search engines rank your site on QUALITY.

Many people are very quick to say “content is king” and it definitely is, however do not forget overall quality in the background.

ie. loading speed, picture quality etc. It all matters.

Wrapping it up…

What Is The Top Web Hosting Service?

In my humble opinion Siteground is the best hosting service for most websites. They offer secure and fast quality hosting while keeping your work safely stored in top quality servers.

It works, and works well… The features and ability to add collaborators on your website, plus the migration and site staging are easy and effective.

The support is fantastic and has never left me high and dry, they truly make SG great.

If you are looking to upgrade your host I highly recommend Siteground. Are they the cheapest out there ?

NO…. However cheap is not the way you want to go if you are serious about your website.
